For over 60 years, it served as a school for the blind — a place where people arrived searching for possibility and left with a new path forward.

Today, Pam’s Massage School carries that legacy into a new era. Founded by Patricia Fields — licensed massage therapist of 35 years, Thai massage master, and steward of Buffalo Ridge Resort — this is a school built on the belief that healing is both an art and a calling. A Program Designed for Real People
We know you have a life. A job, a family, responsibilities that don’t pause while you pursue something new. That is exactly why we built Pam’s Massage School as a hybrid program.
Unlike a traditional massage school that requires daily commuting and rigid classroom hours, our hybrid massage school model empowers you to learn on your own terms. This innovative approach means you can maintain your current job and family commitments while actively working toward your massage certification.
Your 425 hours of theory are completed entirely online — anatomy and physiology, pathology, ethics, professional standards, and a full curriculum designed to prepare you for the MBLEx licensing exam. Study in the evenings, on weekends, at your own pace, from wherever you call home.
Your 200 hours of hands-on practical training bring you to us — just six times. Each visit is four focused days on our beautiful South Dakota campus, where you will learn directly from your instructors, practice on real clients, and develop the confident, skilled touch that defines a great massage therapist.

Here is how our schedule works for you:

Begin Online Today (or Later): Our online theory curriculum is ready when you are. Get a head start on anatomy, physiology, pathology, ethics, and MBLEx prep right now, or wait and start everything in October. You study entirely at your own pace, on your own schedule, from the comfort of your home.

Eliminate the Daily Commute: The only fixed dates are your six weeks of hands-on practical training on our campus, beginning October 26, 2026. Instead of driving back and forth every single day, you simply make six trips to Gary, South Dakota—one per week.

Learn in a Retreat Setting: Spend your practical weeks fully immersed in your training. Stay in our on-site lodging, cook in the full kitchen, unwind at Talking Waters Spa between sessions, and wake up surrounded by the quiet beauty of rural South Dakota.
No traffic. No rushing. No distractions. Just you, your instructors, your fellow students, and the focused, unhurried space to become a great massage therapist.

First Hands-On Cohort — Now Enrolling for Fall 2026
Our inaugural hands-on practical class for our hybrid massage school runs Monday through Thursday, October 26 through December 4, 2026, right here at the historic Buffalo Ridge Resort. The final week of the program extends through Friday, December 4th, giving students the extra day needed to complete all required in-person training hours for their massage certification.

ENROLLMENT FEE: $199
Your first step. Secures your seat, opens your student portal, and gives you immediate access to your online orientation materials.

ONLINE THEORY CURRICULUM: $3,000
(Plus taxes and CC fee of 3% if applicable).
Paid after enrollment, this unlocks your full 425-hour online curriculum. You must pay this before beginning your online coursework, and you must complete Chapter 1 of the online curriculum before your first day of hands-on school. Take your time — study at your own pace, on your own schedule.
HANDS-ON PRACTICAL TRAINING: $5,000
(Plus taxes and CC fee of 3% if applicable).
The final balance, covering your six weeks of on-campus practical instruction at Buffalo Ridge Resort.

To become a licensed massage therapist in South Dakota, students must pay for and pass the MBLEx exam. This is a state requirement, with the exam fee paid directly to the FSMTB (Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards) at the end of your schooling. The current MBLEx exam fee is $265 (as of 6/26/2026) and is subject to change. This fee is in addition to the tuition and packages listed below.

If you are traveling from outside Deuel County, our on-site lodging makes attending school dramatically simpler — no hotels to book, no long drives, just walk from your room to class. Students local to Deuel County likely won’t need this, but for our rural and out-of-state students it is an incredible value.
- $1,200 paid in full upfront — covers all six school weeks
- $220 per week, paid upon arrival — if you prefer to pay as you go
Lodging covers Sunday night through Wednesday night each school week — four nights timed perfectly around your Monday through Thursday schedule. Arrive Sunday, settle in, and leave Thursday after class. We expect students to return home between school weeks, so lodging is priced accordingly and does not cover the full seven-day week.
Flying in from out of state? We have you covered. If you are an out-of-state student taking advantage of our hybrid program and prefer to stay through the weekend rather than fly home and back again, weekend lodging is available for an additional upcharge. Just let our coordinator know in advance and we will arrange it for you.
Our lodging includes the Family Suite with a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, and private deck — a comfortable, distraction-free home base that lets you focus entirely on your training, enjoy the beauty of rural South Dakota, and indulge in Talking Waters Spa between sessions.
